Installation and Operation Instructions

A) YOUR PLASTIMAYD SPACE ARENA is made from the best materials available. The air-inflated portion is transparent vinyl film specially formulated to resist weathering and sunlight deterioration, retain flexibility and perform well with reasonable care. The replacement zipper entry is rip resistant vinyl-coated nylon.

B) To complete cement deck installation of your SPACE ARENA, you will need the following:

- 200 ea. 3/16" x 1-1/2" TAP-IT (or equal) nylon fasteners and screws (furnished)

- 1 dozen 3/16" masonry drills

- 3/8" roto hammer or other deck drilling tool

- Chalk line

- Hammer

- Track (furnished)

- Track Clip (furnished)

- Corner pieces (furnished)

C) PRELIMINARY STEPS

A SPACE ARENA track layout plan is included with each dome, indicating exact measurements to be used. Care should be taken to measure accurately and follow directions precisely. First, orient the layout plan to the pool site. Then find the centerline points of the pool, both width and length. From each centerline point, measure out half of the width or length (as applicable) of the SPACE ARENA to be installed, to determine points W, X, Y and Z as indicated on figure 1. Chalk lines will be drawn from W to X, X to Z, Z to Y, and Y to W to mark the perimeter of the SPACE ARENA where track will be placed. BEFORE MARKING CHALK LINE, check to make sure corners are square and measurements are accurate. Chalk straight lines as indicated. Then, round the corners on a radius of 3'8" and mark as indicated by figure 2.

D) INSTALLING THE TRACK

On the chalk lines you have drawn, lay out anchoring channel, including rounded corner pieces, butting strips end-to-end for a continuous fit. It will be necessary to cut off some of the straight side strips to conform to the layout diagram, but use maximum lengths possible rather than several short pieces. The kerf cut corner pieces must be used without further cutting and centered around the curve. Track should be placed with the curved edge toward pool. A sufficient number of track strips are included in the SPACE ARENA package to accommodate the SPACE ARENA.

When channel tracks are laid out satisfactorily, drill holes to accommodate 3/16" fasteners at intervals of approximately 8" - 12" except on corner pieces, where additional holes will be needed to maintain curvature. Drill completely through channel track to mark concrete beneath.

Remove track and roto hammer holes in concrete. Clean holes and hammer nylon holders flush with deck. Screw down track using washers under screw heads. With corner pieces, it may be necessary to force curvature one screw at a time.

E) INSTALLING SPACE ARENA

1. Position the SPACE ARENA box at the B/C corner as shown on the layout plan provided. Face the dome as indicated on the box arrow pointing toward pool. Remove dome from box being careful to keep it facing in the same direction as it came out of the box. Do not drag dome across any surface, it must always be lifted, or it may be permanently damaged.

2. Unfold the dome down the length of the pool.

3. Locate the opposite-end corners which will be lying on top at each of the strips. Two people then grasp these two corners and pull them to the opposite side of the pool so than the entire pool is covered. Avoid letting water get on top of dome or resting zipper in water.

4. When dome completely covers pool, locate air skirt (at bottom of clear wall) and position it where it is intended to be on the deck.

5. Starting at centerline point, insert welt into anchoring channel, continuing all the way around the perimeter until the entire SPACE ARENA is secure. Start air and inflate SPACE ARENA. Before it is tight, make any necessary minor adjustments in position so as to prevent wrinkles. As a final step, press U-shaped clip over outside channel leg to lock welt into place.

F) SPACE ARENA OPERATION

After unit is fully inflated, allow the exhaust port to remain partially open to adjust to the proper amount of air. Reduce exhaust by tying the sleeve loosely or by placing a heavy object on the sleeve to restrict the outflow. The right amount of inner air pressure can best be determined by experience. The unit should be firm and not easily swayed when outer pressure is applied. Note: Sidewalls of SPACE ARENA should be straight up and down, not bowed out. Too much air will cause the SPACE ARENA to grow and become distorted.

CAUTION: DO NOT OVERINFLATE

Overinflation puts severe pressure on the seams, especially, around the doorway and can cause fatigue of the material. The replaceable zipper entry panel is designed to allow placement of the slider either at the top or at the bottom when closed. (For child safety).
